What does that mean? Who is we? Individualism obscures the answer to that question. One may think that the fabric of our society is strengthened by families. That’s not incorrect, but families dissolve when people move away, someone dies, etc. Our neighborhoods aren’t as stable as they used to be. The we is shrinking to include our immediate family and a consistent circle of friends. No judgement… That’s just how it seems to me.

The whole concept of WE is something my buddy Travis Owens of Outhouse Productions subscribes to in earnest. He is a really, really good guitarist as you can hear on this song. But beyond his exceptional musical talent, Travis gets the idea about collaborating. He is a creative spirit and a great guy to work with!

The concept for this song is simple. The measure of we is determined by the one who is doing the worst. No matter how successful you are as an individual, there are people who are bound by all types of issues. By disassociating from them “we” suffer.

Much has already been written about the commonality of our existence here on earth. My take is similar. I just wanted to remind us that we desperately need the notion of togetherness. We are literally tied to each other as humans. Martin Luther King Jr. said it best: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

We need us to keep it together.
